QA Engineer cover letter example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
This letter was drafted by JobCatch's cover-letter writer from the sample QA Engineer resume, for a plain posting for the role. It uses only what is already on the resume — the current job, its strongest bullets and the skills the posting asks for that the resume has. It invents nothing, which is why it is short.
The letter, as text
I am writing to apply for the QA Engineer position. I currently work as QA Engineer at Shopverse Commerce.
Some of what I have done:
- Own the checkout regression suite of 900 test cases across web, Android and iOS.
- Cut bugs reaching production by 60% by adding API tests and risk-based regression.
- Automated 300 regression cases with Selenium and Java, saving two days of testing per release.
The role asks for Manual testing, Test case design, Automation testing, Selenium, API testing (Postman) and JIRA, which I have worked with.
I would welcome the chance to talk about how I could contribute. My resume is attached. Thank you for your time.
What to add for a QA Engineer role
Say what your testing caught before release and how you test: manual, automation or API. QA leads want evidence you protect releases.
Before you send it
- Name the company and, if you can find it, the hiring manager.
- Add one sentence on why this company: something specific you read about it.
- Keep it under one page, and send it as a PDF with the same name and contact line as your resume.
What to leave out
- Adjectives about yourself — "passionate", "results-driven", "hardworking". Facts do that job better.
- Your whole resume again. Pick the two or three things that matter most for this job.
- Salary, notice period and personal details, unless the posting asks for them in the letter.
