School Teacher cover letter example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
This letter was drafted by JobCatch's cover-letter writer from the sample School Teacher resume, for a plain posting for the role. It uses only what is already on the resume — the current job, its strongest bullets and the skills the posting asks for that the resume has. It invents nothing, which is why it is short.
The letter, as text
I am writing to apply for the School Teacher position. I currently work as TGT Mathematics at Doon Valley Public School.
Some of what I have done:
- Teach mathematics to classes 8 to 10 in a CBSE school, five sections of about 40 students.
- Raised the class 10 board average in mathematics from 71% to 82% over three years.
- Run remedial classes twice a week for students below 50%; 85% of them passed the board exam.
The role asks for Lesson planning, Classroom management, Student assessment, Curriculum development, Online teaching and Microsoft PowerPoint, which I have worked with.
I would welcome the chance to talk about how I could contribute. My resume is attached. Thank you for your time.
What to add for a School Teacher role
Mention your eligibility (B.Ed, CTET or TET), the classes and subjects you teach, and one result your students achieved. Principals want to know you can take a class from day one.
Before you send it
- Name the company and, if you can find it, the hiring manager.
- Add one sentence on why this company: something specific you read about it.
- Keep it under one page, and send it as a PDF with the same name and contact line as your resume.
What to leave out
- Adjectives about yourself — "passionate", "results-driven", "hardworking". Facts do that job better.
- Your whole resume again. Pick the two or three things that matter most for this job.
- Salary, notice period and personal details, unless the posting asks for them in the letter.
