Pharmacist resume example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
Pharmacists in India work in retail chains, hospitals and the pharmaceutical industry, and every one of them asks first for your qualification (D.Pharm, B.Pharm or M.Pharm) and your registration with the State Pharmacy Council. After that, they want to know how much you dispense, what systems you use, and how you keep stock and records in order.
What recruiters look for
- D.Pharm, B.Pharm or Pharm.D, and State Pharmacy Council registration
- Setting: retail, hospital, or industry (QA, QC, regulatory)
- Volume: prescriptions a day, stock value handled
- Compliance: schedule H and H1 records, expiry and cold-chain control

Skills, spelled the way postings spell them
An applicant tracking system matches the words in the job posting, and it does not reliably treat two spellings as one skill. The left column is the form most postings use; the right, other spellings people type. Use the posting's own spelling for each application, and list only what you can discuss in an interview.
| Skill | Also written as |

Bullet examples
Each bullet says what you did and what changed because of it. Change the numbers to your own; a recruiter will ask about every one.
- Run a 24-hour hospital pharmacy dispensing about 600 prescriptions a day with a team of six.
- Cut expired-stock write-offs by 70% with a first-expiry-first-out check and monthly near-expiry reports.
- Keep the Schedule H1 register and narcotics records complete for every drug inspection.
- Counsel patients on dosage and interactions at discharge, about 40 patients a day.
- Manage cold-chain storage for vaccines and insulin with twice-daily temperature logs.
For freshers: projects and internships
- Internship at a retail pharmacy chain: dispensed about 120 prescriptions a day under a registered pharmacist.
- Hospital pharmacy training of 150 hours, including inventory and the drug store.
- Final-year project on patient adherence to diabetes medication, with 80 patients surveyed.
Mistakes to avoid
- No registration details. Retail and hospital pharmacies cannot employ you without them, so put them near the top.
- Only listing duties. Prescriptions a day, stock value and expiry results show the job you can handle.
- Mixing retail and industry goals in one resume. A QA or regulatory role wants a different resume from a hospital pharmacy.
What an ATS reads from this sample
An applicant tracking system turns the PDF into plain text before anyone reads it. This is that text for the sample above, extracted by the same code as "What the ATS reads" in the app. Everything is in reading order, under the right heading, with the name and email intact — which is what a single-column template is for.
