Chartered Accountant cover letter example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
This letter was drafted by JobCatch's cover-letter writer from the sample Chartered Accountant resume, for a plain posting for the role. It uses only what is already on the resume — the current job, its strongest bullets and the skills the posting asks for that the resume has. It invents nothing, which is why it is short.
The letter, as text
I am writing to apply for the Chartered Accountant position. I currently work as Assistant Manager, Statutory Audit at Kirtane Sharma & Associates.
Some of what I have done:
- Led statutory audit fieldwork for four listed manufacturing companies with revenue up to ₹5,000 crore under Ind AS.
- Managed audit teams of up to six articled assistants and reviewed their working papers.
- Tested internal financial controls over purchase-to-pay and reported three control weaknesses that the clients fixed.
The role asks for Auditing, Accounting, Financial analysis, GST compliance, Income tax filing and TDS, which I have worked with.
I would welcome the chance to talk about how I could contribute. My resume is attached. Thank you for your time.
What to add for a Chartered Accountant role
State when you qualified, your articleship firm and the kind of audits or tax work you have done. Recruiters for CAs work through exactly that checklist.
Before you send it
- Name the company and, if you can find it, the hiring manager.
- Add one sentence on why this company: something specific you read about it.
- Keep it under one page, and send it as a PDF with the same name and contact line as your resume.
What to leave out
- Adjectives about yourself — "passionate", "results-driven", "hardworking". Facts do that job better.
- Your whole resume again. Pick the two or three things that matter most for this job.
- Salary, notice period and personal details, unless the posting asks for them in the letter.
