Medical Lab Technician cover letter example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
This letter was drafted by JobCatch's cover-letter writer from the sample Medical Lab Technician resume, for a plain posting for the role. It uses only what is already on the resume — the current job, its strongest bullets and the skills the posting asks for that the resume has. It invents nothing, which is why it is short.
The letter, as text
I am writing to apply for the Medical Lab Technician position. I currently work as Senior Lab Technician at Accucare Diagnostics.
Some of what I have done:
- Process about 300 samples a shift on haematology and biochemistry analysers in a NABL-accredited lab.
- Run daily internal quality control and record corrective actions; no non-conformity in the last NABL assessment.
- Collect blood samples from about 60 patients a day, including children and elderly patients.
The role asks for Phlebotomy, Patient care, Clinical documentation, Data entry, Microsoft Excel and English, which I have worked with.
I would welcome the chance to talk about how I could contribute. My resume is attached. Thank you for your time.
What to add for a Medical Lab Technician role
Name the departments and analysers you know and your quality record. Labs hire technicians they can trust with results from the first week.
Before you send it
- Name the company and, if you can find it, the hiring manager.
- Add one sentence on why this company: something specific you read about it.
- Keep it under one page, and send it as a PDF with the same name and contact line as your resume.
What to leave out
- Adjectives about yourself — "passionate", "results-driven", "hardworking". Facts do that job better.
- Your whole resume again. Pick the two or three things that matter most for this job.
- Salary, notice period and personal details, unless the posting asks for them in the letter.
