Security Guard cover letter example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
This letter was drafted by JobCatch's cover-letter writer from the sample Security Guard resume, for a plain posting for the role. It uses only what is already on the resume — the current job, its strongest bullets and the skills the posting asks for that the resume has. It invents nothing, which is why it is short.
The letter, as text
I am writing to apply for the Security Guard position. I currently work as Security Guard at Shieldforce Security Services.
Some of what I have done:
- Guard the main entrance of a 1,200-employee corporate office, checking IDs and visitors.
- Keep the visitor register and material gate pass records complete for every audit.
- Monitor CCTV during night shifts and respond to alarms across a 12-acre campus.
The role asks for First aid, Customer service, Documentation, Hindi and English, which I have worked with.
I would welcome the chance to talk about how I could contribute. My resume is attached. Thank you for your time.
What to add for a Security Guard role
Mention your training, the sites you have guarded and your attendance record. Agencies hire guards they can rely on for every shift.
Before you send it
- Name the company and, if you can find it, the hiring manager.
- Add one sentence on why this company: something specific you read about it.
- Keep it under one page, and send it as a PDF with the same name and contact line as your resume.
What to leave out
- Adjectives about yourself — "passionate", "results-driven", "hardworking". Facts do that job better.
- Your whole resume again. Pick the two or three things that matter most for this job.
- Salary, notice period and personal details, unless the posting asks for them in the letter.
