Technical Support Engineer cover letter example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
This letter was drafted by JobCatch's cover-letter writer from the sample Technical Support Engineer resume, for a plain posting for the role. It uses only what is already on the resume — the current job, its strongest bullets and the skills the posting asks for that the resume has. It invents nothing, which is why it is short.
The letter, as text
I am writing to apply for the Technical Support Engineer position. I currently work as Technical Support Engineer (L2) at Ledgerbook Software.
Some of what I have done:
- Resolve about 30 L2 tickets a day for a SaaS accounting product, with 94% CSAT.
- Diagnose integration issues by reading API logs and reproducing calls in Postman.
- Wrote 60 help articles that cut repeat tickets on the top issues by 25%.
The role asks for Customer service, Linux, SQL, API testing (Postman), JIRA and Documentation, which I have worked with.
I would welcome the chance to talk about how I could contribute. My resume is attached. Thank you for your time.
What to add for a Technical Support Engineer role
Say which support level you work at, the products you support and your CSAT. Mention languages and shifts if the posting asks for them.
Before you send it
- Name the company and, if you can find it, the hiring manager.
- Add one sentence on why this company: something specific you read about it.
- Keep it under one page, and send it as a PDF with the same name and contact line as your resume.
What to leave out
- Adjectives about yourself — "passionate", "results-driven", "hardworking". Facts do that job better.
- Your whole resume again. Pick the two or three things that matter most for this job.
- Salary, notice period and personal details, unless the posting asks for them in the letter.
