Financial Analyst cover letter example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
This letter was drafted by JobCatch's cover-letter writer from the sample Financial Analyst resume, for a plain posting for the role. It uses only what is already on the resume — the current job, its strongest bullets and the skills the posting asks for that the resume has. It invents nothing, which is why it is short.
The letter, as text
I am writing to apply for the Financial Analyst position. I currently work as Financial Analyst, FP&A at Nutrimax Consumer Products.
Some of what I have done:
- Own the annual budget model for a ₹1,800 crore consumer-goods business across 14 product lines.
- Prepare monthly variance reports for the CFO, explaining every line over 5% from plan.
- Built a rolling 12-month forecast that cut forecast error from 9% to 3%.
The role asks for Financial analysis, Budgeting, Microsoft Excel, Accounting, Power BI and SAP, which I have worked with.
I would welcome the chance to talk about how I could contribute. My resume is attached. Thank you for your time.
What to add for a Financial Analyst role
Name one model or analysis and the decision leadership took because of it. Finance teams hire analysts whose work changes decisions.
Before you send it
- Name the company and, if you can find it, the hiring manager.
- Add one sentence on why this company: something specific you read about it.
- Keep it under one page, and send it as a PDF with the same name and contact line as your resume.
What to leave out
- Adjectives about yourself — "passionate", "results-driven", "hardworking". Facts do that job better.
- Your whole resume again. Pick the two or three things that matter most for this job.
- Salary, notice period and personal details, unless the posting asks for them in the letter.
