Product Manager resume example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
A product manager's resume is read for judgment and outcomes: which problems you chose, what you shipped, and what moved because of it. Recruiters skim for metrics — activation, retention, revenue, conversion — and for evidence that you work well with engineering and design.
What recruiters look for
- Products and features shipped, with the metric each moved
- Problem discovery: research, data and the decisions they led to
- Scope: users, revenue, team size, platforms
- Working with engineering, design and business teams

Skills, spelled the way postings spell them
An applicant tracking system matches the words in the job posting, and it does not reliably treat two spellings as one skill. The left column is the form most postings use; the right, other spellings people type. Use the posting's own spelling for each application, and list only what you can discuss in an interview.

Bullet examples
Each bullet says what you did and what changed because of it. Change the numbers to your own; a recruiter will ask about every one.
- Own onboarding and KYC for a payments app with 1 crore users; activation rose from 31% to 46% in a year.
- Cut KYC drop-off by a third by moving document capture later and adding instant verification.
- Ran 18 A/B tests with design and data teams and wrote the decision memo for each.
- Interviewed 60 users in tier-2 cities, which led to a Hindi-first onboarding flow that lifted completion 12% there.
- Wrote the roadmap and PRDs for a squad of eight engineers and two designers.
For freshers: projects and internships
- APM internship: wrote the PRD for a loan-eligibility checker that shipped to 5 lakh users.
- Built a campus food-ordering app with two friends; 2,000 students used it in its first term.
- Case-competition finalist at two business schools on product strategy cases.
Mistakes to avoid
- Listing responsibilities ("managed the roadmap") instead of outcomes ("activation 31% to 46%").
- Taking credit for everything. Say what you decided and what the team built; interviewers will probe.
- No numbers at all. If a metric is confidential, use percentages or relative change.
What an ATS reads from this sample
An applicant tracking system turns the PDF into plain text before anyone reads it. This is that text for the sample above, extracted by the same code as "What the ATS reads" in the app. Everything is in reading order, under the right heading, with the name and email intact — which is what a single-column template is for.

Interview questions to prepare
The app's interview prep for this sample and a plain Product Manager posting. It works from the resume and the posting only, and tells you how to prepare, never what to say.
Questions every interview has
- Tell me about yourself. Two minutes: what you do now (Product Manager at Paybridge Digital), one result you are proud of, and why this role is next.
- Why do you want this job? Read their website and one recent piece of news before the call. Name something specific.
- Why are you leaving your current job? Say what you are moving towards. Do not criticise your employer.
- What is your notice period, and what salary are you expecting? Decide your number before the interview, so you are not deciding it on the call.
About the skills the job asks for

Questions
How do I move from engineering to product management?
Show product thinking in your engineering bullets: problems you identified, users you spoke to, features you shaped. An APM role, an internal move or an MBA are the usual routes.
Should a product manager resume be one page?
One page up to about six years, two after. Keep each role to the three or four outcomes that matter most.
