Product Manager cover letter example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
This letter was drafted by JobCatch's cover-letter writer from the sample Product Manager resume, for a plain posting for the role. It uses only what is already on the resume — the current job, its strongest bullets and the skills the posting asks for that the resume has. It invents nothing, which is why it is short.
The letter, as text
I am writing to apply for the Product Manager position. I currently work as Product Manager at Paybridge Digital.
Some of what I have done:
- Own onboarding and KYC for a payments app with 1 crore users; activation rose from 31% to 46% in a year.
- Cut KYC drop-off by a third by moving document capture later and adding instant verification.
- Ran 18 A/B tests with design and data teams and wrote the decision memo for each.
The role asks for Stakeholder management, Requirement gathering, Agile methodology, JIRA, SQL and Data analysis, which I have worked with.
I would welcome the chance to talk about how I could contribute. My resume is attached. Thank you for your time.
What to add for a Product Manager role
Describe one problem you chose to solve, what you shipped and the metric it moved. Product leaders read letters for judgment, not responsibilities.
Before you send it
- Name the company and, if you can find it, the hiring manager.
- Add one sentence on why this company: something specific you read about it.
- Keep it under one page, and send it as a PDF with the same name and contact line as your resume.
What to leave out
- Adjectives about yourself — "passionate", "results-driven", "hardworking". Facts do that job better.
- Your whole resume again. Pick the two or three things that matter most for this job.
- Salary, notice period and personal details, unless the posting asks for them in the letter.
