Store Manager resume example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
Store managers are measured on sales, stock and people. A retail employer reads your resume for the size of the store, sales against target, shrinkage, staff managed, and how customers rated the store — so open with those numbers.
What recruiters look for
- Store size and format: square feet, sales a month, staff
- Sales against target and growth
- Inventory: shrinkage, stock accuracy, out-of-stocks
- Team management, hiring and customer ratings

Store manager with seven years in fashion retail. Run a 6,000 sq ft store with ₹1.2 crore monthly sales and 22 staff; delivered 108% of target and cut shrinkage to 0.4%.
Skills, spelled the way postings spell them
An applicant tracking system matches the words in the job posting, and it does not reliably treat two spellings as one skill. The left column is the form most postings use; the right, other spellings people type. Use the posting's own spelling for each application, and list only what you can discuss in an interview.

Also worth listing if you have them: Visual merchandising, Shrinkage control, Staff rostering.
Bullet examples
Each bullet says what you did and what changed because of it. Change the numbers to your own; a recruiter will ask about every one.
- Run a 6,000 sq ft fashion store with ₹1.2 crore a month in sales and a team of 22.
- Delivered 108% of the annual sales target, the best in the region of 14 stores.
- Cut shrinkage from 1.1% to 0.4% with tagging discipline and weekly stock counts.
- Kept the store's customer rating at 4.5 out of 5 through staff training on service.
- Hired and trained 30 staff in a year; four were promoted to team leads.
Mistakes to avoid
- Describing duties without numbers. Sales, target, shrinkage and staff are your results.
- Not saying the format and size. A 500 sq ft kiosk and a 20,000 sq ft hypermarket are different jobs.
- Leaving out people work. Hiring, training and keeping staff are half of a store manager's job.
What an ATS reads from this sample
An applicant tracking system turns the PDF into plain text before anyone reads it. This is that text for the sample above, extracted by the same code as "What the ATS reads" in the app. Everything is in reading order, under the right heading, with the name and email intact — which is what a single-column template is for.
