Store Manager cover letter example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
This letter was drafted by JobCatch's cover-letter writer from the sample Store Manager resume, for a plain posting for the role. It uses only what is already on the resume — the current job, its strongest bullets and the skills the posting asks for that the resume has. It invents nothing, which is why it is short.
The letter, as text
I am writing to apply for the Store Manager position. I currently work as Store Manager at Trendline Fashion Retail.
Some of what I have done:
- Run a 6,000 sq ft fashion store with ₹1.2 crore a month in sales and a team of 22.
- Delivered 108% of the annual sales target, the best in the region of 14 stores.
- Cut shrinkage from 1.1% to 0.4% with tagging discipline and weekly stock counts.
The role asks for Inventory management, Team leadership, Customer service, Microsoft Excel, Vendor management and Process improvement, which I have worked with.
I would welcome the chance to talk about how I could contribute. My resume is attached. Thank you for your time.
What to add for a Store Manager role
Open with your store's sales against target and its shrinkage. Retail employers compare store managers on those numbers first.
Before you send it
- Name the company and, if you can find it, the hiring manager.
- Add one sentence on why this company: something specific you read about it.
- Keep it under one page, and send it as a PDF with the same name and contact line as your resume.
What to leave out
- Adjectives about yourself — "passionate", "results-driven", "hardworking". Facts do that job better.
- Your whole resume again. Pick the two or three things that matter most for this job.
- Salary, notice period and personal details, unless the posting asks for them in the letter.
