Cloud Engineer cover letter example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
This letter was drafted by JobCatch's cover-letter writer from the sample Cloud Engineer resume, for a plain posting for the role. It uses only what is already on the resume — the current job, its strongest bullets and the skills the posting asks for that the resume has. It invents nothing, which is why it is short.
The letter, as text
I am writing to apply for the Cloud Engineer position. I currently work as Cloud Engineer at Nexora Digital Services.
Some of what I have done:
- Migrated 140 on-premises servers for three clients to AWS, with a tested rollback for each wave.
- Built multi-account landing zones with Terraform, including networking, IAM and logging.
- Cut a client's monthly cloud bill by ₹6 lakh with reserved instances and storage lifecycle rules.
The role asks for AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Terraform, Linux and Docker, which I have worked with.
I would welcome the chance to talk about how I could contribute. My resume is attached. Thank you for your time.
What to add for a Cloud Engineer role
Name the cloud you know best and its certification, then one migration or cost saving. Many cloud roles are tied to a single platform.
Before you send it
- Name the company and, if you can find it, the hiring manager.
- Add one sentence on why this company: something specific you read about it.
- Keep it under one page, and send it as a PDF with the same name and contact line as your resume.
What to leave out
- Adjectives about yourself — "passionate", "results-driven", "hardworking". Facts do that job better.
- Your whole resume again. Pick the two or three things that matter most for this job.
- Salary, notice period and personal details, unless the posting asks for them in the letter.
