Data Entry Operator cover letter example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
This letter was drafted by JobCatch's cover-letter writer from the sample Data Entry Operator resume, for a plain posting for the role. It uses only what is already on the resume — the current job, its strongest bullets and the skills the posting asks for that the resume has. It invents nothing, which is why it is short.
The letter, as text
I am writing to apply for the Data Entry Operator position. I currently work as Data Entry Operator at Ganga Agro Distributors.
Some of what I have done:
- Enter about 300 purchase invoices and orders a day in Tally and Excel.
- Kept the error rate below 0.5% in monthly audits for two years.
- Built an Excel check that flags duplicate invoice numbers before entry.
The role asks for Data entry, Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Tally ERP and Documentation, which I have worked with.
I would welcome the chance to talk about how I could contribute. My resume is attached. Thank you for your time.
What to add for a Data Entry Operator role
State your typing speed and accuracy, and the software you use. Keep it short; reliability is what the employer is checking.
Before you send it
- Name the company and, if you can find it, the hiring manager.
- Add one sentence on why this company: something specific you read about it.
- Keep it under one page, and send it as a PDF with the same name and contact line as your resume.
What to leave out
- Adjectives about yourself — "passionate", "results-driven", "hardworking". Facts do that job better.
- Your whole resume again. Pick the two or three things that matter most for this job.
- Salary, notice period and personal details, unless the posting asks for them in the letter.
