Experienced
Financial analyst (FP&A) with four years at a consumer-goods company with ₹1,800 crore revenue. Own the annual budget model and monthly variance reporting to the CFO.
Skills, spelled the way postings spell them
An applicant tracking system matches the words in the job posting, and it does not reliably treat two spellings as one skill. The left column is the form most postings use; the right, other spellings people type. Use the posting's own spelling for each application, and list only what you can discuss in an interview.

Bullet examples
Each bullet says what you did and what changed because of it. Change the numbers to your own; a recruiter will ask about every one.
- Own the annual budget model for a ₹1,800 crore consumer-goods business across 14 product lines.
- Prepare monthly variance reports for the CFO, explaining every line over 5% from plan.
- Built a rolling 12-month forecast that cut forecast error from 9% to 3%.
- Built a pricing model that showed which SKUs lost money after discounts; 30 were cut.
- Automated management reporting from SAP into Power BI, saving three days at each month-end.
For freshers: projects and internships
- Internship: built a revenue forecast model for a consumer-goods company's three regions.
- Valued a listed Indian company with a DCF model as a capstone project.
- Cleared CFA Level I.
Mistakes to avoid
- Saying "financial modelling" without what the model was for or how big the business was.
- Leaving out qualifications and their status. CA, CFA level and MBA matter in finance hiring.
- No decisions. Say what leadership did because of your analysis.
What an ATS reads from this sample
An applicant tracking system turns the PDF into plain text before anyone reads it. This is that text for the sample above, extracted by the same code as "What the ATS reads" in the app. Everything is in reading order, under the right heading, with the name and email intact — which is what a single-column template is for.

Questions
Is CFA useful for a financial analyst in India?
Yes, especially for investment and research roles; for corporate FP&A, CA and MBA (Finance) are more common. Say which level you have cleared.
How much Excel does a financial analyst need?
A lot: models, lookups, pivot tables, scenarios and clean formatting. Many interviews include an Excel test, so show modelling work in your bullets.
