Graphic Designer cover letter example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
This letter was drafted by JobCatch's cover-letter writer from the sample Graphic Designer resume, for a plain posting for the role. It uses only what is already on the resume — the current job, its strongest bullets and the skills the posting asks for that the resume has. It invents nothing, which is why it is short.
The letter, as text
I am writing to apply for the Graphic Designer position. I currently work as Senior Graphic Designer at Monsoon Brand Studio.
Some of what I have done:
- Designed brand identities for 20 clients, from logo and type to guidelines.
- Led packaging design for a snack range of 12 products now sold in 3,000 stores.
- Produced 60 social media creatives a month for four D2C brands with a two-person team.
The role asks for Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Figma, Canva, UI design and Content writing, which I have worked with.
I would welcome the chance to talk about how I could contribute. My resume is attached. Thank you for your time.
What to add for a Graphic Designer role
Link your portfolio and name the kind of work you want to do for them: branding, social, packaging. Agencies hire for a specific desk.
Before you send it
- Name the company and, if you can find it, the hiring manager.
- Add one sentence on why this company: something specific you read about it.
- Keep it under one page, and send it as a PDF with the same name and contact line as your resume.
What to leave out
- Adjectives about yourself — "passionate", "results-driven", "hardworking". Facts do that job better.
- Your whole resume again. Pick the two or three things that matter most for this job.
- Salary, notice period and personal details, unless the posting asks for them in the letter.
