UI/UX Designer cover letter example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
This letter was drafted by JobCatch's cover-letter writer from the sample UI/UX Designer resume, for a plain posting for the role. It uses only what is already on the resume — the current job, its strongest bullets and the skills the posting asks for that the resume has. It invents nothing, which is why it is short.
The letter, as text
I am writing to apply for the UI/UX Designer position. I currently work as Product Designer at Lendmark Finance.
Some of what I have done:
- Redesigned a loan application flow after 15 user interviews; completion rose from 38% to 61%.
- Built a Figma design system of 120 components with documentation, now used by five squads.
- Ran usability tests with 30 users in three cities, including first-time smartphone users.
The role asks for Figma, UX design, UI design, User research, Wireframing and Prototyping, which I have worked with.
I would welcome the chance to talk about how I could contribute. My resume is attached. Thank you for your time.
What to add for a UI/UX Designer role
Put your portfolio link in the first paragraph and name the case study most relevant to the employer. Designers are hired on the portfolio; the letter should send them to it.
Before you send it
- Name the company and, if you can find it, the hiring manager.
- Add one sentence on why this company: something specific you read about it.
- Keep it under one page, and send it as a PDF with the same name and contact line as your resume.
What to leave out
- Adjectives about yourself — "passionate", "results-driven", "hardworking". Facts do that job better.
- Your whole resume again. Pick the two or three things that matter most for this job.
- Salary, notice period and personal details, unless the posting asks for them in the letter.
