Data Analyst cover letter example

I am writing to apply for the Data Analyst position. I currently work as Data Analyst at Basketly Retail.
Some of what I have done:
- Built the weekly sales dashboard in Power BI used by 40 category and city managers.
- Found, through cohort analysis in SQL, that evening delivery slots doubled repeat orders; the change lifted repeat rate 8%.
- Automated a 6-hour monthly Excel report with SQL and Python, freeing a day of analyst time each month.
The role asks for SQL, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Python and Pandas, which I have worked with.
I would welcome the chance to talk about how I could contribute. My resume is attached. Thank you for your time.
What to add for a Data Analyst role
Name one decision your analysis changed and the tool you used to find it. Hiring managers for analysts want proof you answer business questions, not just build dashboards.
Before you send it
- Name the company and, if you can find it, the hiring manager.
- Add one sentence on why this company: something specific you read about it.
- Keep it under one page, and send it as a PDF with the same name and contact line as your resume.
What to leave out
- Adjectives about yourself — "passionate", "results-driven", "hardworking". Facts do that job better.
- Your whole resume again. Pick the two or three things that matter most for this job.
- Salary, notice period and personal details, unless the posting asks for them in the letter.
