Power BI Developer cover letter example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
This letter was drafted by JobCatch's cover-letter writer from the sample Power BI Developer resume, for a plain posting for the role. It uses only what is already on the resume — the current job, its strongest bullets and the skills the posting asks for that the resume has. It invents nothing, which is why it is short.
The letter, as text
I am writing to apply for the Power BI Developer position. I currently work as Power BI Developer at Steelcore Industries.
Some of what I have done:
- Own 35 Power BI reports used by 600 people across 12 plants, with row-level security by plant and region.
- Rebuilt the finance model as a star schema; refresh time fell from 50 minutes to 8 and file size by 70%.
- Wrote DAX measures for rolling margins and budget variance that replaced 20 Excel workbooks.
The role asks for Power BI, SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Excel, Data analysis and Database design, which I have worked with.
I would welcome the chance to talk about how I could contribute. My resume is attached. Thank you for your time.
What to add for a Power BI Developer role
Name the reports you own, who uses them and how often. Adoption is how a BI developer is judged, and a letter can say it in one line.
Before you send it
- Name the company and, if you can find it, the hiring manager.
- Add one sentence on why this company: something specific you read about it.
- Keep it under one page, and send it as a PDF with the same name and contact line as your resume.
What to leave out
- Adjectives about yourself — "passionate", "results-driven", "hardworking". Facts do that job better.
- Your whole resume again. Pick the two or three things that matter most for this job.
- Salary, notice period and personal details, unless the posting asks for them in the letter.
