Customer Success Manager resume example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
Customer success managers keep customers, grow accounts and turn product problems into feedback. Employers — mostly SaaS companies, many selling to the US and Europe from India — read the resume for portfolio size, retention and expansion numbers, and how you handle difficult accounts.
What recruiters look for
- Portfolio: number of accounts and annual recurring revenue (ARR)
- Retention, renewal and net revenue retention
- Onboarding, adoption and expansion work
- Tools: a CRM, a customer success platform, support tools

Customer success manager with five years at B2B SaaS companies. Manage 45 mid-market accounts worth $2.4 million ARR with 97% gross retention and 112% net retention.
Skills, spelled the way postings spell them
An applicant tracking system matches the words in the job posting, and it does not reliably treat two spellings as one skill. The left column is the form most postings use; the right, other spellings people type. Use the posting's own spelling for each application, and list only what you can discuss in an interview.
| Skill | Also written as |

Also worth listing if you have them: Account management, Renewals and upsell, Onboarding.
Bullet examples
Each bullet says what you did and what changed because of it. Change the numbers to your own; a recruiter will ask about every one.
- Manage 45 mid-market accounts in the US and UK worth $2.4 million ARR.
- Kept gross retention at 97% and grew net retention to 112% through expansion into new teams.
- Built a 30-day onboarding plan that cut time-to-first-value from 45 days to 18.
- Turned around six at-risk accounts with executive reviews and joint success plans; five renewed.
- Ran quarterly business reviews and fed 40 feature requests to product, nine of which shipped.
Mistakes to avoid
- No portfolio numbers. Accounts, ARR and retention are how CSMs are compared.
- Describing support work as success work. Show proactive work: onboarding, adoption, renewals.
- Leaving out the customers' regions. Many Indian SaaS roles want experience with US or European clients.
What an ATS reads from this sample
An applicant tracking system turns the PDF into plain text before anyone reads it. This is that text for the sample above, extracted by the same code as "What the ATS reads" in the app. Everything is in reading order, under the right heading, with the name and email intact — which is what a single-column template is for.

Questions
What metrics should a customer success resume include?
Accounts and ARR managed, gross and net revenue retention, renewal rate and onboarding time. If exact figures are confidential, use percentages.

Yes, it is a common path. Show proactive work in your support role — accounts you helped grow, problems you prevented — and learn the basics of renewals and ARR.
