Project Manager resume example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
Project managers are hired to deliver: on time, on budget, with the people and risks under control. A strong resume names the projects, their size (budget, team, duration), the method used, and the result against plan.
What recruiters look for
- Projects delivered, with budget, team size and duration
- Delivery against plan: dates, cost, scope
- Methods and certifications: PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum
- Stakeholder, vendor and risk management

Experienced
PMP-certified project manager with nine years in IT delivery. Runs a ₹40 crore digital-banking programme with 70 people across three vendors, delivered every major release on its committed date.
Skills, spelled the way postings spell them
An applicant tracking system matches the words in the job posting, and it does not reliably treat two spellings as one skill. The left column is the form most postings use; the right, other spellings people type. Use the posting's own spelling for each application, and list only what you can discuss in an interview.
| Skill | Also written as |

Bullet examples
Each bullet says what you did and what changed because of it. Change the numbers to your own; a recruiter will ask about every one.
- Run a ₹40 crore digital-banking programme with 70 people across three vendors.
- Delivered all five major releases on their committed dates, and the programme 4% under budget.
- Introduced a weekly risk review that caught a data-migration slip three weeks early.
- Moved two teams from waterfall to Scrum; cycle time for change requests fell from 6 weeks to 2.
- Report status to a steering committee of the bank's CIO and business heads every fortnight.
Mistakes to avoid
- Describing the client's system instead of your delivery. Say what you delivered, how big it was and how it went against plan.
- No numbers. Budget, team size, duration and variance are what a hiring manager compares.
- Listing every methodology. Name the ones you have run, and the certification if you hold it.
What an ATS reads from this sample
An applicant tracking system turns the PDF into plain text before anyone reads it. This is that text for the sample above, extracted by the same code as "What the ATS reads" in the app. Everything is in reading order, under the right heading, with the name and email intact — which is what a single-column template is for.

Interview questions to prepare
The app's interview prep for this sample and a plain Project Manager posting. It works from the resume and the posting only, and tells you how to prepare, never what to say.
Questions every interview has
- Tell me about yourself. Two minutes: what you do now (Senior Project Manager at Finstack Banking Solutions), one result you are proud of, and why this role is next.
- Why do you want this job? Read their website and one recent piece of news before the call. Name something specific.
- Why are you leaving your current job? Say what you are moving towards. Do not criticise your employer.
- What is your notice period, and what salary are you expecting? Decide your number before the interview, so you are not deciding it on the call.
About the skills the job asks for
- Tell me about a time you used Project management. Pick one real example: what the problem was, what you did, and what changed.

Questions
Is PMP necessary for a project manager job in India?
Not always, but many IT services firms and enterprises list it, and it helps you clear filters. PRINCE2 is common in work for UK clients; Scrum certifications for Agile teams.
Project manager or Scrum Master — what should my title say?
Use the title you actually held, and use the posting's wording in your summary if the work matches. Recruiters search for both.
