.NET Developer cover letter example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
This letter was drafted by JobCatch's cover-letter writer from the sample .NET Developer resume, for a plain posting for the role. It uses only what is already on the resume — the current job, its strongest bullets and the skills the posting asks for that the resume has. It invents nothing, which is why it is short.
The letter, as text
I am writing to apply for the .NET Developer position. I currently work as Senior .NET Developer at Medisys Health IT.
Some of what I have done:
- Migrated a claims-processing system from .NET Framework 4.6 to .NET 8 on Azure App Service, cutting hosting cost by 35%.
- Built 30 ASP.NET Core Web API endpoints with Entity Framework Core and SQL Server for a hospital network.
- Rewrote three slow stored procedures, cutting the nightly batch from 5 hours to 70 minutes.
The role asks for .NET, C#, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Azure, REST APIs and Microservices, which I have worked with.
I would welcome the chance to talk about how I could contribute. My resume is attached. Thank you for your time.
What to add for a .NET Developer role
Mention any move from .NET Framework to modern .NET or Azure. That migration is what most .NET teams are doing, and it is what they want to hear about.
Before you send it
- Name the company and, if you can find it, the hiring manager.
- Add one sentence on why this company: something specific you read about it.
- Keep it under one page, and send it as a PDF with the same name and contact line as your resume.
What to leave out
- Adjectives about yourself — "passionate", "results-driven", "hardworking". Facts do that job better.
- Your whole resume again. Pick the two or three things that matter most for this job.
- Salary, notice period and personal details, unless the posting asks for them in the letter.
