Golang Developer cover letter example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
This letter was drafted by JobCatch's cover-letter writer from the sample Golang Developer resume, for a plain posting for the role. It uses only what is already on the resume — the current job, its strongest bullets and the skills the posting asks for that the resume has. It invents nothing, which is why it is short.
The letter, as text
I am writing to apply for the Golang Developer position. I currently work as Software Engineer (Go) at Payrail Technologies.
Some of what I have done:
- Rewrote the payout-scheduling service from Python to Go; it now handles 9x the traffic on a third of the servers.
- Built gRPC services for the ledger with idempotent writes, processing ₹600 crore a month.
- Found and fixed a goroutine leak with pprof that had caused weekly memory restarts.
The role asks for Go, gRPC, REST APIs, Microservices, PostgreSQL and Redis, which I have worked with.
I would welcome the chance to talk about how I could contribute. My resume is attached. Thank you for your time.
What to add for a Golang Developer role
Name one concurrency or performance problem you solved in Go. Go teams are small and senior, and a concrete example says more than years of experience.
Before you send it
- Name the company and, if you can find it, the hiring manager.
- Add one sentence on why this company: something specific you read about it.
- Keep it under one page, and send it as a PDF with the same name and contact line as your resume.
What to leave out
- Adjectives about yourself — "passionate", "results-driven", "hardworking". Facts do that job better.
- Your whole resume again. Pick the two or three things that matter most for this job.
- Salary, notice period and personal details, unless the posting asks for them in the letter.
