Node.js Developer cover letter example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
This letter was drafted by JobCatch's cover-letter writer from the sample Node.js Developer resume, for a plain posting for the role. It uses only what is already on the resume — the current job, its strongest bullets and the skills the posting asks for that the resume has. It invents nothing, which is why it is short.
The letter, as text
I am writing to apply for the Node.js Developer position. I currently work as Senior Node.js Developer at Learnova Edtech.
Some of what I have done:
- Built and run the course-progress API in Node.js and PostgreSQL for 8 lakh students, at 4,000 requests a second at peak.
- Cut p99 latency by 60% by moving PDF generation off the request path to a Redis-backed job queue.
- Migrated 90 Express routes to NestJS and TypeScript, adding request validation to every endpoint.
The role asks for Node.js, Express.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, REST APIs and GraphQL, which I have worked with.
I would welcome the chance to talk about how I could contribute. My resume is attached. Thank you for your time.
What to add for a Node.js Developer role
Say what your APIs served and how you kept them fast and stable. A line about logging or monitoring tells a backend lead you think about production.
Before you send it
- Name the company and, if you can find it, the hiring manager.
- Add one sentence on why this company: something specific you read about it.
- Keep it under one page, and send it as a PDF with the same name and contact line as your resume.
What to leave out
- Adjectives about yourself — "passionate", "results-driven", "hardworking". Facts do that job better.
- Your whole resume again. Pick the two or three things that matter most for this job.
- Salary, notice period and personal details, unless the posting asks for them in the letter.
