Mobile App Developer resume example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
"Mobile app developer" postings are usually written by companies that care more about the result than the technology: an app that works on Android and iOS and reaches users. Your resume should say which stacks you use — native, Flutter or React Native — and point to apps people can install.
What recruiters look for
- The stack you build with, named in the first lines
- Apps published on both stores
- Backend integration: APIs, push notifications, payments
- Release discipline: testing, store review, updates

Summary examples
Fresher
Mobile app developer who has published two apps on Google Play in Flutter, with Firebase login, push notifications and payments in test mode.
Experienced
Mobile app developer with four years shipping Flutter and native Android apps for retail and healthcare clients. Twelve apps live, the largest with 5 lakh installs.
Skills, spelled the way postings spell them
An applicant tracking system matches the words in the job posting, and it does not reliably treat two spellings as one skill. The left column is the form most postings use; the right, other spellings people type. Use the posting's own spelling for each application, and list only what you can discuss in an interview.
| Skill | Also written as |
|---|---|
| Flutter | — |
| React Native | ReactNative, RN |
| Kotlin | — |
| Swift | — |
| Firebase | Firestore |
| REST APIs | REST, RESTful APIs, REST API |
| Android development | Android, Android SDK |
| iOS development | iOS, SwiftUI |
| Git | Version control, GitHub, Bitbucket |
| CI/CD | Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, CICD |
Also worth listing if you have them: Push notifications (FCM, APNs).
Bullet examples
Each bullet says what you did and what changed because of it. Change the numbers to your own; a recruiter will ask about every one.
- Shipped 12 apps to Google Play and the App Store, the largest with 5 lakh installs.
- Built push-notification campaigns with FCM and APNs that raised 30-day retention by 9 points.
- Integrated UPI and card payments in four apps, passing each payment gateway's security review.
- Set up automated builds and store uploads, cutting release time from a day to an hour.
- Worked directly with clients to scope features and estimate releases.
For freshers: projects and internships
- Published a local-events app in Flutter with Firebase login and push notifications.
- Built a Kotlin to-do app with offline storage to learn native Android.
- Internship: tested and fixed a client's app on 15 Android devices.
Mistakes to avoid
- Not naming your stack. "Mobile apps" could mean anything; say Flutter, React Native or native.
- Apps that are not live. Links to the stores are the evidence.
- Leaving out client work. For agency roles, managing a client is half the job.
What an ATS reads from this sample
An applicant tracking system turns the PDF into plain text before anyone reads it. This is that text for the sample above, extracted by the same code as "What the ATS reads" in the app. Everything is in reading order, under the right heading, with the name and email intact — which is what a single-column template is for.

- Why are you leaving your current job? Say what you are moving towards. Do not criticise your employer.
- What is your notice period, and what salary are you expecting? Decide your number before the interview, so you are not deciding it on the call.

Questions
Should I learn native or cross-platform for mobile jobs?
Cross-platform (Flutter or React Native) gets you more startup and agency roles; native Kotlin or Swift is valued at larger product companies. Knowing one well and the basics of the other is a strong mix.
What should a mobile developer portfolio include?
Store links to two or three apps, a line on what you built in each, and code for at least one. Screenshots help, but a working install is better.
