Android Developer resume example
By Bhagirath Sheela, founder of JobCatch ·
India is an Android-first market, and Android teams care about what Indian users meet: low-end phones, patchy networks, small storage. A strong Android resume shows apps on the Play Store, modern Kotlin and Jetpack, and performance work measured in start time, crash rate or app size.
What recruiters look for
- Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and the modern architecture components
- Published apps with installs and ratings
- Performance on low-end devices: start time, ANRs, app size
- Offline support, background work and Play policy compliance

Summary examples
Fresher
Android developer who writes Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, with a published app (10,000 installs, 4.4 rating) and an internship at a fintech startup.
Experienced
Android developer with four years building a payments app with 2 crore installs. Cut app size by 35% and ANRs by 60% on low-end phones.
Skills, spelled the way postings spell them
An applicant tracking system matches the words in the job posting, and it does not reliably treat two spellings as one skill. The left column is the form most postings use; the right, other spellings people type. Use the posting's own spelling for each application, and list only what you can discuss in an interview.
| Skill | Also written as |

Bullet examples
Each bullet says what you did and what changed because of it. Change the numbers to your own; a recruiter will ask about every one.
- Rebuilt the payments home screen in Jetpack Compose for an app with 2 crore installs.
- Cut the APK size from 42 MB to 27 MB with R8, resource shrinking and dynamic feature modules.
- Reduced ANRs by 60% on phones with 2 GB of RAM by moving disk work to coroutines.
- Built offline queueing for transactions, so payments made without network complete when it returns.
- Kept the app compliant through three Play policy changes, including the background location rules.
For freshers: projects and internships
- Published a habit-tracker app in Kotlin and Compose on Google Play: 10,000 installs, 4.4 rating.
- Internship: built the KYC document-capture screen for a fintech app with CameraX.
- Built a news reader with Room and Retrofit that works fully offline.
Mistakes to avoid
- Only Java and XML layouts. Most teams have moved to Kotlin and are moving to Compose; show you have too.
- No Play Store link. A published app proves more than any course certificate.
- Ignoring low-end devices. In India that is most of your users, and interviewers know it.
What an ATS reads from this sample
An applicant tracking system turns the PDF into plain text before anyone reads it. This is that text for the sample above, extracted by the same code as "What the ATS reads" in the app. Everything is in reading order, under the right heading, with the name and email intact — which is what a single-column template is for.

Interview questions to prepare
The app's interview prep for this sample and a plain Android Developer posting. It works from the resume and the posting only, and tells you how to prepare, never what to say.
Questions every interview has
- Tell me about yourself. Two minutes: what you do now (Senior Android Developer at Paybridge Digital), one result you are proud of, and why this role is next.
- Why do you want this job? Read their website and one recent piece of news before the call. Name something specific.
- Why are you leaving your current job? Say what you are moving towards. Do not criticise your employer.
- What is your notice period, and what salary are you expecting? Decide your number before the interview, so you are not deciding it on the call.
About the skills the job asks for
- Tell me about a time you used Java. Pick one real example: what the problem was, what you did, and what changed.

Questions
Kotlin or Java for Android jobs?
Kotlin. Google has recommended it since 2019, and most new Android code is Kotlin. Keep Java on your resume if you have it — many apps still have Java modules — but lead with Kotlin.
Does a published app matter if it has few installs?
Yes. It shows you have been through the whole process: signing, store listing, policy review and updates. Say what you learned from it and link it.
Next: the Android Developer cover letter the app drafts from this resume, and how to show Android development, Java, Firebase on a resume.
